Why Dental Audio Notes

Ala Rozwadowska | March 2021

We started Dental Audio Notes because we believed that there was a better way to ensure that our record-keeping contained all the information that we need, rather than writing every single sentence that is said at every dental appointment.

We want to help you have the best outcomes for your patients. We believe the dentist-patient consultation is a human and personal conversation touching on many sensitive topics including aspirations, fears and finance as well as diagnosis, treatment options, medical factors and complications. All of these factors influence the decisions by both the dentist and the patient. You have taken your expert understanding and converted it into human language, custom for that specific patient, explained as best you can. And it is this conversation that the patient needs to recall to understand what is the best course of action for their health, but is left only with a hazy memory of all but the cost.

We want to protect our dentists, dental care professionals and their team. Should a case arise, we want you to be able to look back with all the information related to that case - not just what you had time to write down during the appointment. We believe this will help increase local resolution of complaints, and help our practitioners be able to hold their ground should you need to.

For new patients especially, those early conversations are incredibly rich in information in both directions between patient and clinician. As dentists, our understanding of the patient and their particular scenario from these conversations guide so much of our decision making in terms of their care and treatment planning.

When we are lucky enough to work with permanent, long-standing, well-trained team members, record keeping can be good. We want that same quality of record-keeping and stress-free environment for all practitioners, even when they are working with new or different team members who may not understand the specific record-keeping requirements of a practitioner in depth.

Most of all, we understand that making records which have as much depth as we aspire to, takes time. That time can be better used on the things that bring us joy - helping our patients, spending time on developing excellence in our work, or getting home that little bit earlier.

We are really looking forward to helping you and your dental teams make this happen.

Dental Audio Notes (DAN) is now a product that makes this vision a reality. We are proud to be able to make DAN available to you and the dental community. If you haven’t already, register at dentalaudionotes.com/register, give it a go and see what it can do for you.
